First, thank you for your interest!
DawnMarie and Katja founded nonprofit PEAK Rowing Club in 2020 as an indoor rowing group for adaptive athletes and veterans.
Two years later, Natalie saw the potential of a first-class rowing venue at Standley Lake and approached the two about expanding PEAK to encompass all athletes. The Westminster, Colorado, location is tailor-made for rowers - no motor boats, a single put-in and lots of undeveloped fields, all ringed by a nature preserve.
Colorado has only a handful of rowing clubs. Most have waiting lists for learn-to-row classes and even longer delays for rack space.
Standley Lake represents the largest rowing venue in the Denver metro area. It’s 40% bigger than Boulder and Union Reservoirs and 25% larger than Cherry Creek Reservoir. Did we mention the gorgeous mountain view?
PEAK, Park management and the Westminster recreation department all cheered at the formation of PEAK Rowing in 2023. We kicked off the club with three racks and a storage cage, followed by a metal container for winter storage.
PEAK Rowing is welcoming to all rowers - masters, juniors, adaptive athletes and veterans. As a USRowing Freedom Rows organization, we believe rowing is a sport for everyone, regardless of age, ability, impairment or disability.
PEAK Rowing is growing fast, with demand quickly outpacing our ability to add racks, boats and instructors.
That’s where you come in. Are you interested in expanding rowing in the Rocky Mountain West? Making the sport accessible to a wide segment of people? Experiencing the sense of pride when folks climb into a boat and LOVE rowing?
We could use your help. Tax-deductible donations can help us fund the building of more racks, boat maintenance, instruction and a boat house! Are you in?
Please reach out with your ideas and contributions to board@peakrowing.org. We’d love to talk to you!
